Decal Application
Here's a step-by-step video: scroll through the post for each step. (Your decal backing might look a little different—the clear film backing follows the same rules.)
Scroll down to the bottom for helmet tips. 🙂
How to Apply Your Decal
You’ll need:
- A clean, dry surface
- Rubbing alcohol or mild cleaner
- A plastic card (or squeegee)
- Scissors
Steps:
-
Clean the surface.
Wipe down your surface with rubbing alcohol or a gentle cleaner. Let it dry completely. -
Prep your decal.
Use a squeegee or card to press over the clear transfer film to ensure the decal sticks well. -
Trim if needed.
If your design has extra space or is being applied to a curved surface, trim around the edges. -
Peel the backing.
Slowly peel off the paper backing, making sure the decal stays attached to the clear film. -
Apply the decal.
Carefully place the decal on your surface. Start from the center and press outward to avoid bubbles. -
Press and smooth.
Firmly rub the decal with your squeegee or card to make sure it adheres well. -
Peel the transfer film.
Slowly peel away the clear film. The decal should stay behind. If any part lifts, press it down and try again.
Tips:
- Best applied at room temperature
- Wait 24 hours before using
- Not recommended for rough or porous surfaces
For helmet application:
- Get an idea of where you want your decals by using double-sided tape to temporarily position them before applying.
- Carefully use an exacto knife to cut clean lines where helmet holes are.
